    In the early 1960s, Aurora Plastics released a series of model kits based on famous movie monsters, including the Creature from the Black Lagoon. One advertisement urged youngsters: "Decorate your room! Surprise your mother! Create your very own chamber of horrors!"
    Some of the models were even available in glow-in-the-dark versions.
